In a word, it’s established itself as one of the Maldives’ premiere island escapes.

Once here, guests can enjoy a romantic island getaway. For instance, couples can discover one of the 12 private beaches, or relax at the One&Only Spa. Conversely, active couples can play a game of tennis or try some watersports.

Aside from the regular amenities, guests will also find art installations, retractable glass walls in-villa, and 3-D printed vitamins for turn-down service. Patina also takes wellness to the next level, with watsu treatments, sound baths, and floating pods on the menu. Of course, the usual spa treatments are also available.

What’s more, guests at Patina also have access to the luxury shops and restaurants at Fari Marina Village. A Saint Tropez-inspired beach club and yacht harbor are among its highlights. In conclusion, Patina is one of the best honeymoon resorts in the Maldives for the jet-setting couple.

The Six Senses Laamu is a dreamy barefoot luxury escape for a Maldives honeymoon. An eco-conscious property on Olhuveli Island, it’s a 40-minute seaplane and short boat ride from Male. And while the rooms have a wonderful castaway charm, my favorite features are the cheekily placed glass floors in all the water villas.

The Six Senses is also one of the only resorts in the Maldives with good surf, as well as an in-house marine biology team. the on-site diving is great, as is the selection of spa treatments. There’s even a rumor about 48 ice cream flavors on property. The resort does have nearly 100 villas though, which can seem a bit much. But with such elegant villas to choose from, you may never want to leave your room. Which doesn’t sound too off for a honeymoon in the Maldives.

Baros Maldives is another classic pick for a honeymoon in the Maldives. It’s catered to countless honeymooners over the years, and continues to deliver once-in-a-lifetime expereiences. Located in the North Male Atoll, it’s also a quick 25-minute speedboat transfer from Male. Most of the rooms here come equipped with a plunge pool or spa to enjoy from the privacy of your own villa.

Markedly, the resort features the first EcoDive center in the Maldives to be certified by Reef Check. It was one of the original dive resorts in the region, and still provides amazing marine encounters. Similarly, a handful of water sports are available. In spite of the large number of rooms, guests seldom feel crowded. With 5 bars and 8 restaurants on property, it’s easy to enjoy a romantic dinner for two. This is a pretty pricy upgrade from their standard overwater room, but so were the WOW rooms at the W. The W added a lot more glass panels though!

Meanwhile, guests at the resort have a healthy selection of activities and amenities. Firstly, the overwater Tamara spa offers a variety of therapies. The resort also provides snorkeling equipment for guests to explore the in-house reef. Lily’s location is convenient to more than 50 dive sites, making it an excellent choice for divers. Otherwise, two restaurants and two bars offer an array of options. Of course, there are watersports available, an overwater spa, and even a doctor on site. In view of all of the above, Adaaran Prestige Vado has some of the best Maldives glass floor water villas.

The Six Senses Laamu is an eco-conscious resort located on Olhuveli Island, a 40-minute seaplane and short boat ride from Male. The Six Senses is one of the best resorts in the Maldives for couples, and it also has some of the best glass-bottom features. Moreover, all of its over-water villas have glass floors in the most peculiar of places. For instance, there’s no need for magazines or your phone while in the loo. Evidently, there’s a glass floor in front of each toilet. Endless entertainment! Furthermore, even the entry-level water villas feature a glass bathtub sitting over a glass floor.

Given the preference for outdoor baths and showers in the Maldives, the Six Senses has certainly made bathing indoors more fun. Finally, the Six Senses is one of the only resorts in the Maldives with good waves to surf, as well as an in-house marine biology team. The vibes here are very much barefoot luxury with all the class and comfort of less castaway-style resorts. For this reason (and more), the Six Senses Laamu has my favorite Maldives glass floor water villa.

The Westin Miriandhoo is located in the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of the Baa Atoll. A 35-minute flight from Male, it’s a wonderful escape from the outside world. The Westin is notable because it has one of the largest glass floors on the list while also being the third most affordable. And while the glass floor isn’t found in its entry-level villa, even the Pool Villa is far less expensive than resorts higher on the list.

Compared to some of the other resorts on the list, the Westin is a bit further. But the location is drop-dead gorgeous, and a paradise for divers. Guests can swim with manta rays from June – September. Whale sharks are also frequently spotted. And guests can easily book dives with the in-house PADI Dive Resort. All things considered, the Westin Miriandhoo is an excellent choice for a water villa in the Maldives with a glass floor.

Cinnamon Hakuraa Huraa is located in the Meemu Atoll, a 45-minute seaplane flight from the capital. That makes it one of the best value picks on the list. And although it’s a great bang for buck, it is not cheap. Hakuraa Huraa still offers first-class amenities and 5-star service. Guests arrive and depart via a private yacht. Once at The Reserve, residents enjoy amenities such as a spa pavilion, sauna, gymnasium, and cinema. Of course, there are the usual touches like an infinity pool, water slide, and butler service. Guests are even given a private boat to transfer to and from the reserve. But chances are, you won’t want to leave. The only thing better than the gorgeous setting and extravagant villa is the service. The St Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort is a beautifully designed property. Located in the Dhaalu Atoll, it’s a 45-minute seaplane flight from Male. In contrast to most resorts in the Maldives, all of its 77 villas come with a private pool and personalized butler service. But of all its multi-bedroom retreats, the John Jacob Astor Estate is the crown jewel.

The sprawling three-bedroom estate is the second largest water villa in the Maldives. It features sublime indoor-outdoor spaces, multiple infinity pools, and exceptional modern decor across 1500 sqm. There is of course a private cinema and exercise room, and plenty of sophisticated touches throughout.

In like manner, all overwater villas at the St Regis enjoy the same level of thoughtful design and excellent service. And sit over the same azure waters. Whatever you choose, it will be one of the best overwater bungalows in the Maldives.

If you’ve read my other Maldives guides, you know the Anantara group has a number of gorgeous resorts in the region. Kihavah makes this list because of their newly renovated Residence. At 1500 sqm, their Two Bedroom Overwater Pool Residence is now the 3rd largest overwater bungalow in the Maldives. And it comes with all the bells and whistles.

Imagine leaving your massive infinity pool to take a dip in your glass bottom bath. Or maybe a workout in the fully-equipped gym followed by a massage in your private spa. Of course, a villa host is on call 24 hours, and a private chef is always on hand. Paired with the resort’s fantastic location and endless amenities, Anantara Kihavah undoubtedly has some of the Maldives’ best overwater bungalows.

JOALI Maldives is island living at its finest. Located in the Raa Atoll, it’s a scenic 40-minute seaplane journey from Male. Featuring two infinity pools facing different directions, sunrise and sunset views are guaranteed. There’s also an outdoor rain shower, private spa room, and Jadugar (butler) service.
