The students who had more practice mimicking forgot so much more than the students from more collaborative-conceptual learning environments that there was no longer a statistically significant difference. Then, when given non-traditional problems, the collaborative students bested the mimickers. I would like to see more studies that examine long-term advantages in terms of retention and transfer of knowledge.
