The other day I was working with a student who was returning to graduate school to borrow AGAIN after having nearly $200,000 in loans cancelled. After paying a mere $4160 over 10 years, they had $138,500 and approximately $60,000 in accrued interest cancelled due to the generosity of the PSLF program. You read that right, the grand total they were asked to pay over 10 years was less than 2 percent of their balance, less than $35/month on average.

So, while we pine over some of the FAFSA hurdles, perhaps we should be asking for some modicum of program integrity when it comes to lending unlimited sums to graduate students.
