There are also other gaps aside from just social workers, for example my 6 year old son has Autism and he has been without an Occupational Therapist for over a year now (even though it is mandated that he receive this service on his IEP) and this is also as a result of a shortage of therapists at schools (according to his school) after the pandemic. It is truly disappointing that New York City, the “financial capital of the world” gets away with underserving our children. More can be done, I am sure of it.
